Premier Energy Group History

Established in 2012, the company underwent a name change to Premier Energy PLC, known as Premier Energy Group. Committed to growth, development, and sustainability, we continued our evolution as Premier Energy PLC through strategic mergers and acquisitions, expanding our expertise and business areas. We are dedicated to driving the transition towards cleaner, greener energy solutions. Through our comprehensive range of renewable energy services, including power purchase agreements and project development, we actively contribute to creating a more sustainable world for future generations.

Premier Energy Group Structure

Romania gas distribution and supply

In 2013, Premier Energy Group entered the Romanian gas market through different acquisitions, swiftly becoming the 3rd distributor. Engaging in gas distribution, supply, and network maintenance, it serves both households and non-households, also selling gas to industrial customers beyond its concession network.

As of December 31, 2023, has distributed gas to over 150,000 consumption points and supplied gas to over 115,000 customers. With 116 gas concessions across Romania and with a distribution network spanning 3,600 km, mainly capable of supporting green hydrogen distribution, the concessions strategically cover areas around Bucharest and the Southern and Western regions, including remote areas with anticipated demand growth.

In Romania, Premier Energy Group, offers natural gas distribution and supply services through 5 companies:

  • Premier Energy S.R.L., formerly Petrom Distributie Gaze S.R.L.– gas distribution and supply company;
  • Ligatne Gas S.R.L. ("Ligatne Gas") – design and execution of user installations company;
  • B.E.R.G. Instalatii Gaz S.R.L. ("Berg Instalatii")- design and execution of user installations company;
  • Progaz P&D S.A. – natural gas distribution and supply company;
  • Premier Energy Trading S.R.L. ("Premier Energy Trading") – gas supply company;

Electricity Companies

  • Premier Energy Furnizare S.A.(former CEZ Vanzare) - an electricity and gas supply business providing approximately 3,157 GWh of annual electricity and natural gas to its clients;

Romania’s renewable electricity generation and supply

Premier Energy Group entered the renewable energy sector in 2022, rapidly expanding through acquisitions and developments. Our expertise extends to project development for greenfield initiatives, as well as project management for ready-to-build renewables projects, facilitating the transition to sustainable energy solutions.

In addition, Alive Capital, offers comprehensive asset management solutions, from administrative tasks to contract management and reporting, enhancing operational efficiency. We are one of the largest renewable energy suppliers and aggregators, with a robust presence in generation, distribution, supply, asset management, and aggregation services.

In the period January and December 2023, Premier Energy Group supplied over 0,52 terawatt-hours of renewable energy to end clients in Romania, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable solutions (Source: ANRE website).

In Romania, Premier Energy Group is providing renewable energy through 10 companies

  • Energia Mileniului III S.R.L. – a 99 MW wind plant ready-to-be-built project, in development phase, located in Dobrogea area, Tulcea County,
  • Enex Nalbant Renewable S.R.L - 27.5 MW wind plant, located in Nalbant Commune, Tulcea County,
  • Ecoenergia S.R.L.– 34.5 MW operational wind plant located in Stejaru Commune, Tulcea County;
  • Alive Capital S.A.– Provides integrated management activities for renewable producers, supply of electricity from renewable sources, and renewable energy production through a 0,5 MW operational solar plant;
  • True Energy Management S.R.L.– cogeneration power plant with an installed capacity of 13.2 MW for electricity and 12.5 MW for thermal energy;
  • Alive Wind Power One S.R.L. - 18 MW operational wind plant and 8 MW in development, located in Vaslui County (Its acquisition is subject to Competition Clearance approval)
  • Alive Sun Power One S.R.L.– 5.4 MW operational solar plant located in Valea Calugareasca Comunne, Prahova County;
  • Alive Sun Power Two S.R.L.– 1.9 MW operational plant farm located in Urlati Commune, Prahova County;
  • Da Vinci New Project S.R.L.– 23 MW solar farm with 4.6 MWh located in Nanov Commune, Teleorman County;
  • Brasov Renewables S.R.L.– 36.8 MW solar farm in development, of which the Group has 40% shareholding, located in Brasov County.

Republic of Moldova electricity distribution and supply

In 2019, Premier Energy made its mark in the Moldovan energy market with the acquisition of assets from Naturgy, the Spanish energy group. Since then, we have emerged as the largest electricity distributor and supplier, catering to more than 70% of the Moldovan population.

Is the largest distributor and supplier of electrical energy in Moldova. Premier Energy Distribution S.A., one of two distributors in the country, manages a network covering about 35,700 km, serving almost one million consumption points in 16 districts and the capital city, Chisinau.

In the Republic of Moldova, Premier Energy Group is operating across 4 companies:

  • I.C.S. Premier Energy S.R.L.– regulated electricity supply company;
  • I.C.S. Premier Energy Distribution S.A.– regulated electricity distribution company;
  • Navitas Energy S.R.L. ("Navitas") – non-regulated electricity company providing integrated asset management activities for renewable producers, including forecasting, balancing, dispatching and supply services and renewable energy production
  • Electra Logistics S.R.L. ("Electra") – a subsidiary of Navitas.
